FD 2030 - Can the L.A.W. Survive China?
Where Major General Jenkins exposes the manifold weaknesses of the light amphibious warship.
In reply, Compass Points reader, Quigley Swimmer, asks and answers his own questions,
Will the LAW be produced fast enough and in numbers enough to support Marine Corps needs? Not even close.
Will the LAW, if produced, be able to hide from Chinese detection? In no way.
Or withstand Chinese attack? Bottom of the sea.
Will Stand-in-Forces be able to hide? No. If the LAW is able to re-supply them, that would give away their position. Locals will give away their position also.
Japan is already a nation of SIF to China; are they trying to hide? No. They are moving toward a much more aggressive self-defense. See the recent article in Japan News. Japan is looking to substantially improve their counterattack capabilities.
