The Secret of Regenerative Logistics
A Satire Story About FD 2030
Compass Points always works to keep our readers up to date on FD 2030. Lately, we have heard rumors about something called "regenerative logistics." We outfitted a special investigator with a home-made "Distinguished Visitor" access badge and sent him out to find the secret of regenerative logistics.
Out in the wilds of the land nav course near The Basic School at Quantico, our investigator finally found the hidden FD 2030 experimental laboratory. It is a modern complex, all angles and aluminum. Strangely, all the windows are papered over with non-disclosure agreements. Confronted by a massive door, like a gigantic bank vault door, our investigator did not know how to gain entrance.
"It would take a tank to blow this door open," mused our investigator. "That's it! A tank!" Our investigator pulled out his phone and went to FD 2030 website. He clicked on, "Need a tank today?" he received a number to the Army. He called again and again, but no-one ever answered.
Just then, the massive door swung open and all the scientists streamed out to go to lunch. Our investigator slipped inside. At first, he thought the whole facility was empty, but then he he entered one lab and found a white coated scientist.
"Excuse me, sir." said our investigator. "What are you creating here?"
"Corporal" said the old scientist curtly.
"You're making a Corporal?"
"No, I am a Corporal of Marines."
"Oh sorry, how long did you serve?"
"I've been a Corporal about a month. Under FD 2030's new Talent Management, I'm a lateral transfer. They said my science skills were so good they would make me a Marine. They mailed me an EGA, and told me to come on out here. Now, I'm a 75 year old Corporal and I love it!"
"I guess I should say congratulations," our investigator said doubtfully, "but what are you making in this lab?"
The old Corporal looked at the DV badge and said, "Well, I guess since you are a Distinguished Visitor, I can tell you. What we are creating is the secret of regenerative logistics."
"You know the secret of regenerative logistics?"
"Know it? I invented it."
"What is the secret?"
The old Corporal looked around, then said proudly, "The secret is we figured out how to turn an MRE into an MRC."
"MRC?" asked our investigator.
"The new MRC is so much better than the old MRE. MRC's are going to be one of the best parts of FD 2030."
The old Corporal held up a small packet, hardly bigger than a deck of cards.
He continued, "Think about all those Marines left alone, stranded along the island chain, and no way to supply them. The MRC is smaller and lighter than an MRE. The MRC has a longer shelf life. You can fit not just one, but a dozen MRC's into a cargo pocket. They come in a wide variety and just one MRC can keep a Marine going for months."
"Wow, that is amazing! This really is a great improvement. At least one thing good is coming out of FD 2030."
The old Corporal just smiled.
As our investigator was about to leave, he asked one final question, "What does MRC stand for?"
The old Corporal's smile just got bigger, "You know that MRE is 'Meal Ready to Eat' but MRC is 'Meal Ready to Cultivate' Once you are alone on your Pacific island, you just take out your MRC packet, peel open the top, find yourself some good soil, and then shake out all the seeds. In just six to eight weeks, you'll have more carrots, or radishes, or tomatoes, or squash than you can imagine."
The Compass Points investigator tried to share in the old Corporal's enthusiasm, "'Meal Ready to Cultivate' that's the secret of regenerative logistics?"
"You betcha," said the old Corporal with a smile, "Once we replace the old MRE with the new MRC, it's going to be a great FD 2030 day!"

The article forget to mention that each MRC contains a side packet of Fuel Ready to Cultivate (FRC). When opened and spread in a pond, the algae contained in the FRC creates an algae colony that produces biodiesel, which can then be used in hybrid equipment and generators once strained through an appropriate medium (to be developed separately). So far, this game changer had been shown in a laboratory and the Quigley to generate roughly 5 gallons of bio diesel a month (when supplemented with JP8); a significant advantage for the 21st Century Spartan EABO. This is expected to significantly reduce the reliance on the tyranny of the LAW connector chain deep inside the WEZ.
Thank God…Someone finally gets it.
