The lack of critical review and the childish criticism of retired General officers who offered serious thoughts and concerns tells me everything I need to know about Force Design 2030. It is a small cult of careerist officers who pursued this strategy and they have been using secrecy and silencing tactics including censoring The Marine Corps Gazette. Thankfully we are starting to get some traction in correcting this before it is too late.

Careerists. A nomenclature that Al Gray worked to eradicate, but have cropped up again in the NCLB program. As warfighters retire, and NCR careerists dominate, I fear we are headed for the lessons of the next shooting war.

As I hear FG officers of my peer group and lower say that “the days of kicking in the door are over,” and “why are we still doing force on force exercises,” I believe the next shooting war is the only education left. “Experience is the fool’s only teacher.”

Unmanned vehicles of any kind need to be thought of as augmentations to the force not a substitute for people, but this does not rule out shifting people to other roles and functions within the overall force as drones pick up roles.

Ends + Ways+Means= Strategy. Means can be , tanks, artillery, missiles. drones, Marines, robots, contractors, swords, rifles, lasers, microwaves,e-tools, hands,as demonstrated by E Tool Smith in combat in Viet Nam who killed numerous enemy combatants w/o drones!

One of my oft repeated reminders is that no weapon is ever fully obsolete, it often acquires a niche role. Re Vietnam, US patrol boat crews in the Mekong Delta used crossbows to fire incendiaries to burn down huts and other buildings in villages identified as being Viet Cong havens.

False Design reminds me of an Old Marine Saying, “Wish in one hand and shit in the other then see which one gets full”! I am an old Marine and I said it.

USNS Montford Point (T-ESD-1) 03/31/2023 Legislative Consideration

USNS John Glenn (T-ESD-2) Regarding Means…..and FD 2030 …..the 2 ships above were decommissioned by Our Brilliant USN Leaders. Biden and Blinken in their great strategic wisdom claim that they will put a pier into Gaza to supply food to Our and Israel’s enemies in the middle of combat. These are the vessels that would provide the means to meet their stated ends. Sadly they were decommissioned. Central Command is in chaos. Faux Design has neutered the Force Project, once the Forte of Our Marine Corps, we are caught w Our skivvies around Our Ankles.
