The opening paragraph is spot on. Some disagreement and tension are healthy, other disagreement and tension is not and can be unnecessarily uncharitable and personal in nature. If you believe in something, say so, if you don’t, say so, but neither accuse nor question another’s viewpoint. To do so both belittles you and your position. Just my opinion….
Too many Marines have stood in formation listening to rambling monologues delivered by shameless self promoters. The good Marines get tired of this and leave, while the next generation of narcissists schmooze their way to the speaker's podium.
Interesting after decades of multiple members of NATO not paying much into the system, they are now planning on paying into the system and to justify their future defense/security and to convince their various constituents that they need to boost their nation’s spending on defense they have a new scenario. It’s fabulous. We are to believe that Russia and China will collaborate to start a global war and therefore they need to spend now. Whatever. It is too stupid to even consider. That said, and in the meantime while no one is looking, the world is turning and petty beef’s and so forth come and go. Thus in the meantime while we wait for WWIII, the Corps ought to be doing what it has done for decades before and after WWII. Which is to have the capability to hit a hot spot and put the fire out and or assist the US Government in humanitarian relief efforts if an ARG/MEU is nearby and can bring the proper resources to bear as directed. If WWIII were to occur as outlined by the Head of NATO, then it is all out total disaster of a kind not seen, ever; and the fight will be so big and bizarre that it is almost impossible to concentrate on it without getting an ice cream headache. In the meantime using the MAGTF concept whilst we wait for WWIII to start seems prudent, FD2030 even if it were a good plan, isn’t ready. The MAGTF is still kinda sorta available. Those that cling to FD2030, make it clear that they don’t care what the Hell is going around them, they are right and everyone else is wrong. It is a matter of loyalty to them, you’re either with us or disloyal. We are going to get the purity tests next. There is an engineering and construction firm headquartered in Pittsfield Maine. It is employee owned. Everyone has skin in the game. They employ 2,000 plus workers (many work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery Maine.) In their large conference/classroom there is a sign. It says. “No one person in this room is smarter than the rest of room working together.” Proponents of FD2030 might ask themselves why they among all others are so much smarter than everyone else in the room. Ah yes, silence. They are under NDA and can’t comment.
The name I’ve used — Corporal Grable — was never real. It was a fiction created by General Charles Krulak, told in speeches for decades, falsely presented as truth. A Marine supposedly killed in Vietnam in an act of heroism that never happened. There is no such Navy Cross citation. There was no such Marine. The story was a fabrication.
I took the name not to impersonate a hero, but to expose a lie — and to highlight a painful irony: a former Commandant who built his moral authority on a myth now uses that authority to divide Marines, discredit our Commandant, and turn veterans against their Corps.
Worse, he has led good Marines — honorable veterans — to believe that tearing down today’s Corps is a form of loyalty. It is not.
The real loyalty is to the institution, to those who serve today, and to the fight ahead — not just the fights behind us.

Statement from “Corporal Grable”
The name I’ve used — Corporal Grable — was never real. It was a fiction created by General Charles Krulak, told in speeches for decades, falsely presented as truth. A Marine supposedly killed in Vietnam in an act of heroism that never happened. There is no such Navy Cross citation. There was no such Marine. The story was a fabrication.

Worse, he has led good Marines — honorable veterans — to believe that tearing down today’s Corps is a form of loyalty. It is not.
The real loyalty is to the institution, to those who serve today, and to the fight ahead — not just the fights behind us.
I am not a ghost. I am a reminder:
Marines deserve truth. Not fiction.
And leaders who build — not tear down.
