Technology, stand off weapons etc will never defeat a patient enemy. Full on combined air and ground invasion is the only way, of course nuclear weapons not withstanding!

We certainly have showed a lot of weakness in the Middle East and especially with the Houthis which has emboldened them to continue their attacks on our and others ships. The only way to squash these piss ants is to use overwhelming ground and air forces (MAGTF anyone) to put a stop to their mischief lest they too become as powerful as Hezbollah!

Tyrants have considerable tenacity and ability to endure. Once they hear the echos of footsteps and the crack of small arms they realize their reign is coming to an end. Not before that.

We know it is “not Offensive” . Perhaps it is a new abbreviation or acronym for non specific urethritis? Whatever it is 2 CMCs caught it and destroyed the USMC’s ability to fight and win battles.

The Stand In Force, is the new little force of Marines armed with anti-ship missiles, who are to fight enemy ships. They will be located in areas close to enemy naval forces, prior to conflict.

To which the enemy will fix and eliminate with extreme prejudice. Or just completely avoid the area and let them "wither on the vine".

Aerial bombardment is basically an “area” weapon, it becomes less so when someone on the ground (oh say like a US Marine forward air controller) is able to bring more clarity to the plane or helicopter flying the mission, the target aspects. One supposes drones are more lethal but they have limits as well and are only as good as the operator wherever they maybe situated. Wrong intelligence on the target can have bad outcomes. We can’t ask the family that got waxed in Afghanistan after Throughly Modern Miley’s “righteous” went wrong and killed them all. But we do know that Marines on the ground using their skill at close quarters combat honed over the last 20 years to a fine bayonet point are enormously effective. Combined with all the elements of Marine air and ground forces whether in CQC or more open terrain a MEU or greater force brings range and capability far exceeding the size of the unit. Read that we are a great bang for the buck.
