“If we could learn to look instead of gawking,

We'd see the horror in the heart of farce,

If only we could act instead of talking,

We wouldn't always end up on our arse.

This was the thing that nearly had us mastered;

Don't yet rejoice in his defeat, you men!

Although the world stood up and stopped the bastard,

The bitch that bore him is in heat again.”

- Bertold Brecht, "The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui"

Disappointed but I guess not surprised, to see that Compass Points supports the foolhardy policy of “supporting” Ukraine and thus enabling their corrupt political leadership to waste so much of their blood, and our treasure, in this futile and preventable war. Why should we deplete our own critical munitions base for a regional conflict which doesn’t concern our economic nor national security?

Is it possible CMC is shifting to the Tomahawk because the HIMARS does not give the MLR the range needed to be effective in the first island ring against PLAN ships headed for Taiwan?

There is an off the shelf alternative. Reactivate the HMLA. Put them on EPF connectors. Arm the Vipers to attack PLAN ships. Sidewinders can be put on a section for air defense. The Demons are for command and control and general support. As to cost, these 2 airframes enjoy an 85% parts commonality for maintenance support. Then if the war with China doesn*t happen, these amphibious assets would fit very well in the Baltic, or the Med, even the Carib.

Other than the cost I am very intrigued by this. To me this suggests something even more monumental than the littoral regiment for the future. Would this particular unit go the way of the A-6 and become a national asset for plug and play? It will be cool when they start shooting missiles of in training (most likely blue with concrete in them but still cool)

It is quite obvious that the "Dam the torpedoes, full speed ahead" reproach is the way our new CMC wants to call the shots. So, the Marine Corps of 2030 is predestined to sink ourselves as Corps is being setup to torpedo itself into oblivion. Sometimes, even the brightest leaders screw up. Force Design 2030 is going to be a doozy of a screw up! For once, Congressional Armed Services Committees, do your job and prevent this folly from happening!

Marines will be standing in the rigging of US Navy ships throwing their tomahawks as they board a Chinese or Russian warship! Going lighter and back to our sea service roots.
