Andrew Rolander's article in 19fortyfive is a disservice to our national security. He dangerously touts a fatally flawed concept as innovative, forward looking, and effective. It is just the opposite. Folks who admire and respect the Marine Corps for its past service to the Nation will read and believe the article. When I read about the 'new' approach to missiles based off the cost of China, I think of the story of Wake Island. If you cannot resupply the base it gets overwhelmed. This is also shown by the Japanese held islands in WW2. What were our 'leaders' thinking of?
FD2030 and the 38th and now 39th CMCs have utterly destroyed our Corps' MAGTF capabilities... what they've done is criminal!!! VISION2035 is a MUST to save iur Corps and reverse and restore our MAGTF lethality and capabilities to react and respond to ANY crisis in "every clime and place"!

We may not have the SIF and their missiles in place, we do have our first Talent Management Recruit Graduate as a GySgt. First, my hat is off to the 38 year old Marine for making it through boot camp, I won’t take that away from him.
I’m not so sure about promoting him to GySgt (he got out of the AF as an E-5) is the correct way to advance these Marines. What does this say to those Marines who had to slug it through climbing the ranks by having to take their MCI courses, attend resident PME courses and prove themselves in their MOS and some of them had to prove themselves on Special Duty Assignment. I would be demoralized seeing a recruit leave boot camp as a GySgt…just my humble opinion.
Agree! But I do think that all USMC officers should have to undergo Bootcamp and enlist into the USMCR during their college time if they're not prior enlisted...
